xx The Mass Effect Chronology w/all major media
« Thread started on: May 3rd, 2013, 3:27pm »

This is my personal list of the chronological order of all the official Mass Effect media (novels, comics, games, DLC, and etc), this is not how you should read/watch/play it but just MY personal way.
There will be spoilers I will try my best to limit them though. If anyone wants to make suggestions, corrections, or comments please do so.

VG=Video Game
DLC=Downloadable Content
PN= Prose Novel
CB=Comic Book series or single issue

Prelude Stories that place before the events of the first game:
Mass Effect: Revelation (PN) Prologue

Mass Effect: Homeworlds (CB) #2

Mass Effect 1 (VG)

Mass Effect 1: Pinnacle Station (DLC) 2

Interlude 1: Stories that take place after the first game and before the second game
Mass Effect: Ascension (PN)
Mass Effect: Galaxy (VG)

Mass Effect 2 VG Prologue- The Destruction of the Normandy SR-1
Mass Effect: Incursion (WC)
Mass Effect: Redeemption #1-4 (CB)
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost (AM) 3
Mass Effect: Homeworlds #3 4
Mass Effect 2 (VG) Act 1
Mass Effect 2: Zaeed-The Price of Revenge (DLC)
Mass Effect 2: Normandy Crash Site (DLC)
Mass Effect 2: Kasumi-Stolen Memories (DLC)
Mass Effect 2: Firewalker (DLC)
Mass Effect 2: Overlord (DLC)
Mass Effect 2 (VG) Act 2 5
Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker (DLC)
Mass Effect 2: The Arrival (DLC) 6

Interlude 2:Stories that take place after the events of The Arrival and before ME3
Mass Effect: Retribution (PN)
Mass Effect: Inquisition (WC)
Mass Effect: Conviction (WC)
Mass Effect: Blasto (WC) 7
Mass Effect: Homeworlds #4 (CB)
Mass Effect: Deception (PN) 8
Mass Effect: Invasion #1-4 (CB)
Mass Effect: Infiltrator (VG)

Mass Effect 3 (VG) Prologue (Escape From Earth/Battle on Mars/Meeting the Council)
Mass Effect: Homeworlds #1 (CB) 9
Mass Effect 3 (VG) Act 1
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan (DLC) 10
Mass Effect 3: Omega (DLC)
Mass Effect 3 (VG) Act 2 11
Mass Effect 3: Citadel (DLC) 12
Mass Effect 3: The Extended Cut (DLC)

1) About the first 20 pages of Revelation is set before the First Contact War and Evolution takes place at the end of the First Contact War and the rest of Revelation deals with the mission that Anderson was on with Saren.

2) Not available on the PS3 due to "code being corrupted" and it's not really major loss.

3) Details James Vega's battle with the Collectors it starts after ME2's prologue and is a side story to the events of ME2.

4) This story takes place before you recruit Garrus.

5) I consider Act 2 the events after the mission on Horizon and ends after the Suicide Mission.

6) I perfer to play Lair of the Shadow Broker and The Arrival after the sucide mission.

7) I have not read Mass Effect: Blasto yet this a guess to it's place in the chronology.

8) I have not read this novel but from I learned about it from reviews it sounds like it's an awful piece of shit. I put it in the spot because of a line of dialogue about meeting Kai Leng on Omega after he shoots him in both legs and from I what I learned it seems that Aria is still running Omega and she loses control of Omega in the Invasion comic book series.

9) This story is a flashback and ends with Liara telling James that Shepard has ordered them back to the ship in what appears to be Presidium or Embassies and the only time James appears there is after Shepard meets the Council.

10) I usually go to Bryson's lab before the Coup but I don't go to the asteroid and the other 2 worlds until after I finish the asari monastery because of the all the various types of Reaper forces are used throughout the combat areas of the DLC.

11) I consider everything that happens after the coup to be Act 2.

12) I perfer to play Citadel before you go to Cerberus' base at the end.
