xx Street Fighter IV Review
« Thread started on: Mar 7th, 2009, 11:29am »

Street Fighter IV is the long awaited sequel to the legendary fighting series that debuted back in 1987. The last "new street fighter" came out back in 1998 I think, so this is a long time coming. It is out for both PS3 and X-Box 360 and rated T for teen.

The game is set between the the cannon time of Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III. The new main antagonist, Seth, is hosting his own World Warrior Tournament to get the mysterious Blece project completed. Before this tournament started, the greatest fighters all around the world were being kidnapped and no one had a clue to who was accomplishing this. The only people they could think of was the dreaded M.Bison and his Shadoloo army, but they were thought to have been destroyed during the events of SFII.

Now, all of the characters from Street Fighter II are back with four new characters. C.Viper, Rufus, El Fuerte, and Abel. C.Viper is a female character that seems to work with S.I.N., the individuals of the Blece project. Rufus is a fighter who believes he is the greatest in the world, but no one knows who he is. He sees a newspaper that declares Ken Masters as the strongest American fighter and he sets out to defeat him and prove that he is in fact the greatest. El Fuerte is a wrestler/cook who is trying to find a way to make the greatest dish and Abel is a man who has no memories of his past and figures out that fighting is the only way to get his memories back.

The gameplay goes back to Super Street Fighter II, using the super combo meter (instead of attacking your opponent, your meter grows from the more damage you take). When you get it to ultra, you are able to execute your characters specific special move. The fighting is very damn good as well, unlike the other street fighters you are able to hit people with ACTUAL combos. Like tapping x,x,b,lb or something like that instead of the old one hit moves we are use to in the other street fighters.

You've got other game modes like challenge mode, online, training mode, and etc. And there is downloadable content that will feature other characters (or so I heard)

I give this game a 10/10, and I don't normally give things perfect. If you have a ps3 or 360, this game is a NEED.

Ok, I REALLY didn't want to post anything on this, but I would honestly give this game an 8. There was one huge issue I had, and it may be the issue that I am one of few who have, but I can NOT deal with the AI of this game.

This game is GREAT with AI, until you go into the "Very Easy and Easiest" modes. I was getting my ass kicked too fast, too quickly. Abel was a cheap ass bastard, and I really wanted to throw my XBOX 360 through the Window.

8 at best, maybe a 9.

Whoa, you got your ass whipped on Easiest? lol, thats crazy. I feel you on Abel though, all he does is that dumb ass roll and grab you and throw you, he really does cheat with that, but I still beat him.

On some real thoug, on Easiest all you gotta do is the jump heavy kick/trip combo the whole time, youw ill win every match in 20 seconds (possibly perfects as well).
