xx Fable II review

I think that Fable II might be what Creative Director Peter Molyneux invision Fable 1/Fable: The Lost Chapters to be and it rocks!

The story is set 500 years after the events of the first one and you start out as an orphan named Sparrow,(your character's defalt name) living with your big sister, Rose on the streets of Old Bowerstone. A traveling merchant is selling a music box and with the urging of Thersea, an old gyspy, who tells you and Rose the music box is magic and it can grant you two a wish.
Then the two of you set out to find five gold coins to the buy box. Along the way you save a dog from a bully and he becomes your companion. Rose and Sparrow buy the box and it wind up the box and make a wish. The wish is too live in a castle Fairfax with Lord Lucian a wealthly nobleman who lost his wife and daughter (he's the villian btw). The box disappers and later that night a group of guys from Lucian takes you to the castle, where you meet Lucian and he kills Rose and shoots Sparrow out of a window, crashing to the street below, found and nursed back to health by Thersa and the dog. Years later when you're all grown up you and the dog seek revenge.

Like the orginal Fable you can pick wheather your hero is good or evil. Saint or sinner. Rude or polite. Gay, Straight or Bisexual. You get the idea. A new option in Fable II is if your hero is a man or a woman.

Graphically this game looks like Fable 1 on steroids and that is a good thing there are some minor collison problems but nothing major. The music, voices, and sound effects are good but I do notice some occasional lag between my heroes' spouces and when the dialoge.

The Battle controls have been refined to where on button is melee button, another is your range wepon, and magic button. The melee handles like a dream.
The range weapons (crossbows, early rifles, and pistols) are a blast (no pun intended) to use. As you get more experince you get zoom, and other features.
Magic is the only problem that I have with it's hard for me to know what spell I'm selecting. Non combat controls are easy as well.

There are a host of mini-games besides the Pub games ranging from modeling, blacksmith, woodcutter, and bartender. They can be tedious due to boring controls (the blacksmith is very tedious but you do get a lot of money out of it).

This game builds well on upon the foundation that Fable 1 and Fable: The Lost Chapters. If you want to play the game that could easly rival Oblivion and Mass Effect as the greatest Action/RPG on the Xbox 360 then don't miss Fable II.

Fable II gets a 4 out of 5.

Yeah i noticed you were playing Fable 2 when i was on Live last week, i must say i am a bit dissapointed that Armour has been done away with and that dog looks a bit annoying....BUT....I still have my copy coming in the post along with Saints Row 2 for my brother....Still looking forward to the release of Gears Of War 2 the most though without doubt.
